About the Author

Rooi spent her barefooted childhood in Salt Lake City, Utah, before a big move to the Pacific Northwest at twelve years old. She tells stories broadly from experience- having participated in more than her fair share of mischief- and credits her talent to a merciful God who she sees as her safe base, amused audience, and nurturing corrector.

She grew up with generous parents as the scheming oldest of five children. Her love for fiction and fantasy came from her dad, who prescribed specific books as a treatment plan for the pains of adolescence.

In 2006, Rooi married the most patient man on earth, and together they have five children of their own. As her older teens begin to leave home, Rooi most cherishes her memories of family read-alouds, especially the times they pulled from their favorite pages to decide how to play, where to go, and what to eat next. Since beginning her novel she's reversed the process, inspired by her family to choose adventures for her characters.  

Rooi has a background in Health Science, with particular interest in attachment theory. She has a heart for the promotion of generational healing and interpersonal repair through the avenues of pure play and unfettered faith.
