With a heart for the promotion of generational healing, she’s building her YAS series as a joyful avenue to interpersonal repair. In this series, readers can expect Rooi’s pure play and unfettered faith, whimsy and relational wisdom.
The briefest backstory
Rooi spent her barefooted childhood in Salt Lake City, Utah, before a disorienting move to the Pacific Northwest at twelve years old.
During seventh grade PE— when no one was watching— she slipped into the boys locker room, made a pile of their street clothes in the communal shower, and turned the faucets on.
That was only the beginning.
Rooi tells stories broadly from experience— having participated in more than her fair share of mischief in the three decades since— and credits her talent to a merciful God who she sees as her safe base, amused audience, and nurturing corrector.
Rooi lives happily ever after in Oregon with her husband, children, dogs and cats— sometimes sneaking into the laundry room to write stories while the drier tumbles for white noise.
